Things To Do in Highlands TX

Things To Do

One of the census-designated places in Texas located along the Union Pacific Railroad, Highlands is north of Interstate 10 and west of Farm to Market Road 2100. It is part of an industrialized area of unincorporated Harris County.

The community was originally named Highlands because the place it is located is at a higher elevation than the opposite bank of the river it faces. It was a station by 1908 on the Beaumont, Sour Lake, and Western Railway. It was not until 1929 that a post office was opened.

One of the neater places to visit is the Lynchburg Ferry, a place that stretches back in time to when people traveled up and down the nearby river. Juan Seguin Historic Park is a lovely place set aside for the public to enjoy profusely. Baytown Nature Center features a playground, and multiple picnic areas, and a lot of people come here to enjoy their afternoons regularly.
